Lou Reed to Take Part in Unique Passover-Themed Event in NYC; Schedules California Concerts
5:37AM Wednesday
March 6, 2013

Lou Reed is among the celebrities who will participate in a unique event next month celebrating the Jewish holiday of Passover.  The 12th annual Downtown Seder will take place at the City Winery in New York City on March 19, six days before the actual holiday is observed.

The show will feature a variety of musicians, comedians, other performers and political figures joining attendees for an interactive and offbeat take on a traditional Passover feast.  The performers will recite a poem, sing a song or talk about a relevant subject.  In lieu of the historic "four questions" normally asked at a seder, four new queries will focus on such modern issues as climate change, human slavery and gun control.

Other stars slated to take part in the Downtown Seder include Reed's wife, performance artist Laurie Anderson; comedian Judy Gold; and Israeli singer/songwriter David Broza.

In other news, Reed has added a few California concerts to his tour itinerary that will be sandwiched by his two appearances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April.  The influential rocker is scheduled to perform at Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on April 14, at the Golden State Theatre in Monterey on April 16 and at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles on April 17.

Reed's Coachella sets, meanwhile, will take place on April 12 and 19.  Find out more about Lou's concert schedule at his official website.
