Major food distribution centers:
- Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina Market:
Offers a no-cost market with fresh fruits, vegetables, and pantry staples. Located at the NCINO, INC. Hunger Solutions Center on Greenfield Street, with hours on Monday, Thursday, and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard:
Provides emergency food to the Wilmington area through the generosity of volunteers and community partners.
- Good Shepherd Center:
Offers meals through its soup kitchen for those who are low-income or homeless.
Church and community pantries:
- First Fruit Ministries: Located at 2750 Vance St, open Mondays 10 a.m.–12 p.m., Wednesdays 10 a.m.–1 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Wrightsboro United Methodist Church: Provides weekly food assistance, including fresh meat, produce, and dairy.
- First Baptist Church, Leland: Open the first and third Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Asbury Methodist Church (Shallotte): Offers assistance on the second and fourth Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Senior-specific programs
- Bread for Life Senior Pantry: Provides food assistance specifically for seniors.
Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP): Run by the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, this program provides monthly boxes of pantry staples, plus fresh produce, dairy, and protein, for low-income seniors age 60 and older.
